Ooh hope you like the locking function!! It was such a game changer for me !! Best of luck in the revision trenches 🫡

Genuinely the best idea ever! (Also, when I was watching that video I had paused it and typed out this super long comment about how you could essential 'lock' your chapters…only to press play again and you literally did that exact thing like ten seconds later lol. THAT'S why we watch the whole thing before we comment.)

Yay! Hopefully it's a helpful starting point! I'll probably have some final thoughts on it as I continue to use and develop my own revision process

Editing has been this ginormous mountain I have struggled to climb for years. But I can confidently say I am finally done with dev edits, but now I am struggling wiith scene edits.

Curious why you're planning to lock-down the chapters after editing during what's essentially a developmental revision. I can totally see it for line level edits - once the story is in the right order, you've got all the beats you want, etc. - but it seems restrictive for an overview review. Interested to see how it works out. I'm also barrelling toward revision hell so very curious on other authors' experiences and plans.

omg so valid! Something I struggle with a lot is going back and revising, and if it weren't for a challenge like Nano, I might never have finished manuscripts. I'm hoping that the 'lock down' will encourage me to keep up the pace and not get bogged down in smaller details (like I would probably tend to do!) I'm so interested to hear how your revision process goes- especially because you've written all the books before doing any edits!

The link to notion wont let you access it without perms 😫. But also, Blake Snyder is the author of Save the Cat and he was a male author and screenwriter who died in 2009, so I’m not sure who you’re referring to when you talk about the female author of the Level-Down method video. However author Jessica Brody wrote two sort of “spin off” versions of Save the Cat “Writes a Novel/ YA Novel” if that’s who you mean. I think there’s been several authors who have their own take on Save the Cat XD Brody does credit Snyder though in her work since she is not the original creator of the Save the Cat method nor is she the author of the book shown on the screen when you refer to the Level-Down method. Accidents totally happen! There’s so much material out there and it can get super overwhelming sometimes. Totally don’t want to dismiss the rest of your video bc you’ve got great stuff in here. Just wanted everyone to know where to find the right resources with the right credit. Personally, I found both Snyder and Brody’s books super helpful 🤩 Snyder’s book is meant largely for screenwriters (though any storyteller can benefit from it), references films, and is shorter whereas Brody includes essays and uses Snyder’s methods but adjusts them for specifically novels or YA novels (depending on the version you get). All are great resources ✨

Oh no! I will have to try and figure out that link! I might not have updated it properly for post! Thank you for letting me know- and OMG I didn't know that Save The Cat was something other than that Writes a Novel book. That is such good information to know! I've only ever heard it in reference to that book.
